The Delicious, Delicious Sandwich

Oh yes, that’s right. I made a delicious sandwich today while I was pottering around the house trying to think of what to do (which actually made me more hungry). So I thought, “well I might as well take pictures of this and post it to my blog so that I can legitimately say that I have documented the making of my delicious sandwich” – Travers [2015].

So here we go! Strap yourselves in! This story is full of fiber, amoung other things.

Starting with almost all of the ingredients:

– Two kinds of bread (I had sesame seeded white bread and whole grain bread)

– Slices of cheese

– Shaved ham (or you can just cut it from the leg of ham, whatever tickles your fancy)

– Butter

– Betroot Relish (actual betroot is WAAYYYYY better, but this is good too)

– Chilli jam (don’t remember where I got his, but it’s delectable)

– Lettuce (don’t ask me what kind, iceberg, baby whatchamacallit, I have no idea. The green stuff)

– Tomato (not pictured, but I remembered it half way through)

– Salt & Pepper (not necessary, but it brings out some of the flavours)

If you look closely, it still looks like bread
And so, with his dying breath, the baker from Abbott said “We should go international”, and the bread industry has never been the same

… and here’s that missing tomato.

I can't stand tomato by itself, hence the sandwich
Yes, that is a ceramic knife, and no, I haven’t cut myself… yet

Say goodbye tomato, you’ll be parting soon.

Whabam! There's another one. So sharp.
Oh man I put so many puns in my posts… Time to cut my losses?

Now for the condiments, I put butter on all pieces, then Chilli jam on one side, and Betroot relish on the other bit.

Nono, no knife jokes here.
This stuff… is actually quite mild, however it is quite nice.
It's looking better now, got some colour.
Omnomnomawhat? Love this stuff, but betroots themselves are better.

Put on the tomato (cut two slices in half for better fit).

Tomato tomato... huh... guess that works better verbally.
Time to put on the tomato… that red round stuff.

Put on the salt and pepper now, so that the little salt crystals can dissolve into the bowels of the tomato (well, now that the liquids have slightly slipped out of the massacred tomato). This lets the tomato actually have some taste, and I find it quite nice mixed with the other ingredients.

Geddit? GEDDIT?? I don't.
These grinders really crack things off

Now for the ham, that lovely, pink, and in this case, quite large round shavings.

Is Don. Is Good.
Bread for scale

It was at this point that somebody else wanted in on the sandwich making fiesta.

Bilby
The answer is yes. He does do this a lot, and yes, he does always get a small tip bit.

Time for cheese! That lactose stuff that comes from fermenting old milk and other things that you really don’t wanna know about just before you consume it.

CheeseCheeseCheese
I could make a cheese joke here but… It’s too corny.

The that green lettuce stuff that grown in the ground.

Not even sorry
STOP! … Lettuce time.

Then we put the lids on and cut it into triangles.

What's that, you like rectangles better? Well then, triangles it is.
Yup. Triangles. Cause triangles are love, triangles are life.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand that’s it!

Well I mean, that’s not it, you don’t just make a sandwich and take pictures of it.

You make a (delicious) sandwich, cut it into triangles, take pictures, and then you pick up that badboy with both hands, like a man, and take a bite with a satisfied slight slow nod and small smirk on your face. Acompanied by a drawn out “Mmmm”, if that doesn’t happen, it’s all for nothing, man.

That part you don’t have to photograph, cause nobody wants to see that, and you gotta keep some things only in memories, it’s better that way. However, if you can photograph the taste? Pfffcht, wow man, lemme see! er… taste?

ANYWAY

Back to the task at hand.

… Actually that’s pretty much it, I’ve shown you how to make a rather tasty sandwich (by my standards), now go forth, minions, indulge!

I’ll post again soon with another slicing adventure, that’s hopefully not too cheesy.

You thought wrong. Those puns are still going!

Post again soon.
